Last Weekend

 

Business is starting to pick up, which is really nice!  This past weekend I was very busy.  I got to make this really adorable lighthouse cake for a 50th birthday.  They are hard to see, but there are reeds coming out of the cake, and it was just so fun (if I do say so myself).  It's ALL sugar, except for the reeds and the wire on the fence.

Mandy, you are so talented!! The lighthouse cake and cupcakes were a huge hit. Everyone at the party was taking photos of the cake..they couldn't stop talking about it. I have shared your blog address with my friends. That's the best carrot cake we have ever had and those lemon curd cupcakes are my favorite. Thank you so much for moving to Utah. I LOVE feeling the LOVE!

My sister asked me to make this crocheting cake for her good friend.  I love a challenge!  Those balls of yarn weren't easy, but I love the outcome.

The final project for the weekend was 150 cupcakes to celebrate Aurora's 16th birthday, or the final production of Sleeping Beauty at the Lehi Arts Center.  It was a darling production that my family and I were privileged to attend. 

Show Stopper

For my sister's nanny.  I was told blingy and fancy.  I love how simple this cake is, but it has just enough flair to look like it belongs in a Las Vegas Burlesque show : )

Valentine Birthday

My mom ordered this cake for one of her very best friends, whose birthday just happened to be VALENTINE'S DAY!  Super cute... and very Valentine-y.

Go Packers!

More cake pops!  These were obviously ordered for a Superbowl party.  Love the colors!  Even if I could really care less who played, or won the Superbowl : )

Baptism Treats

 Three dozen cupcakes and 2 dozen cake pops made with lots of pink and sparkles!  I even made a dozen gluten free cupcakes.  Yay me!
The cake pops have been getting a lot of attention lately for party favors.  They are so cute!  I even made them for my boys to give out as their valentines and they were a huge hit.  Of course, I forgot to take pictures of the cute pops with sugar heart confettis... so just try to imagine their cuteness.

Scuba Baby

 I made this cake for baby Finn's 1st Birthday.  How cute is that?  Baby "Finn" and it was a scuba diving baby cake?  I had planned on putting his name on the cake because it was perfect not too, but at the last minute, my client called and had gotten the time of the party wrong, which cut my decorating time by 2 hours.  So, the name got left off. 
This is a 7" cake and was supposed to be Finn's smash cake, while the rest of the party enjoyed crab and lobster adorned cupcakes.  His parents couldn't bare to let him destroy the cake, so he smashed a different cake. 

Utah Open House

 My AMAZINGLY KIND sister Jessie wanted to do something to help me get my cake business going here in Utah and came up with the idea of having a cupcake tasting.  She hosted it, invited all of her friends, and even helped me with cake pops!  It was a huge hit!  I am sure I will stay busy from here on out.  Enjoy some pictures...

Jessie set up a whole hot chocolate bar.  One of the best ideas I've ever heard.

This was the main table.  I made white cupcakes filled with lemon curd and frosted with lemon cream cheese frosting, chocolate cupcakes filled with raspberry mousse and frosted with chocolate buttercream, red velvet with cream cheese frosting, and white cupcakes filled with strawberry and covered in pink buttercream.  LOTS of work!

 This cake got to double as my centerpiece, and Tabitha and Piper's (my niece) birthday cake.  They love Strawberry Shortcake!

Jessie made a slideshow of my cakes that played during the open house.

It was a whole lot of work for both me and Jessie, but in the end it was all worth it!  Thanks sister!
